Simone Kermes sings the Piangero from Haendel's Caesar. We are forced to fall in love with her, hate her, and to have pity on her. The transition between the sections here is not easy, but Kermes does it with fire, as she hurls us along in a storm of sweeping, angry passion One moment she's contemplative regarding what is to become of her, then she's raging in planned vindication, only to return to muse upon her uncertain future.
